Jadeite comes in a wide range of colors. The most valuable is an intense green called Imperial. Many of us think of the rich bottle green color when we think of jade, and this is no coincidence. The more green jade you have, the higher its value.
The most expensive examples of jade are found in the so-called Imperial Jade color, which is an intense and vibrant emerald green. To achieve the highest possible value, the jade stone must be as pure as possible, without spots of gray or other colors. Imperial jade, as one of the most expensive gemstones in the world, can sometimes be worth millions of dollars. The most expensive type of jade is type A.
In addition to the type, we must also consider if it is jadeite or nephrite, and where it was found. Imperial jade from Burma is the most expensive type of jade. It is the most expensive because it is of the highest quality, the most sought after color and is still today the most appreciated source of jadeite in the world. In these cases, jade stones are most valuable when they are thick, symmetrical and proportional; there should be no defect or imperfection on the surface of a jade stone visible to the naked eye and some shapes must be uniform, without flat spots or irregularities.
Masks made of jade and incense burners carved from jade have been found in association with religious ceremonies ranging from ancient China to Mesoamerica. Lavender jade, an exquisite specimen of jade, is also called “delicate lavender” and is considered the duchess's jade in the family. Because of this decisive factor when evaluating this type of jade stone, some people treat or bleach jade to hide and eliminate any signs of discoloration before applying it with colored polymers; these artificially altered jadeites are not as valuable as their untreated counterparts. Geographically, most jade is found around the edge of the Pacific Ocean, where that level of subduction has occurred, which is why most jade is found in New Zealand, East Asia, the United States, Canada, Central America and South America.
Later, after the looting by the British and French armies in 1860 of the Summer Palace in Beijing, where many Chinese jade objects were stolen and then headed to Europe, Damour re-analyzed the jade. This type of jade has an intense and powerful green color that is considered the standard of excellence for high-quality jade. Metaphysically, lavender jade represents the subtle emotional body and has a higher frequency transmission than all other types of jade. Also known as monarch jade, black jade dominates other types of jade with silence and wilted eyes.
Nowadays, jade can be transported on roads with large trucks and, when roads are inaccessible, mining companies sometimes use helicopters with slings to transport slabs of jade rock. For example, one of the most expensive ancient objects made of jade is a Neolithic vessel called a jade cone with a sacred face of humans and animals from the Liangzhu culture. The purpose can affect the value so much that the small jade object can be much more expensive than a larger-scale jade sculpture. Although nephrite jade is the original skystone from China, fine jadeite, as shown here, is the most coveted jades in today's Chinese community.
One of the first national sources of the stone were the White Jade (Yurungkash) and Black Jade (Karakash) rivers, near the city of Hetian (; a). Jade is also used to make small sculptures, religious works of art and ornaments, in addition to the usual jade jewelry seen in the store.
